“After one treatment with Paulo Quadros I was completely pain-free – I’ve never had to go back. It was like magic!”

Patricia Starrett 73

“As an ex-nurse, I think it’s ridiculous that sometimes there can be a stigma attached with alternative treatments simply because it’s not what we’re used to – so many people can benefit from these treatments.”

Isobel Murphy 61

“I feel so much better after my treatments with Paulo – there are lots of people that would benefit from them.”

Maud Smith 72

When it comes to the care of older, more vulnerable people, the conventional approach is even more fragmented especially when regarding their health (physical, mental/emotional and social).

This group of people often have very specific issues ranging from multiple physical health problems (and consequential multi-medication with adverse interactive effects), diminished mental and cognitive competence, pain, social exclusion, mobility difficulties, and so on.

The benefits of a truly integrated approach can be observed at a pilot project in Glasgow, funded by the City Council and the NHS.

Here, alternative carers, complementary therapists and GPs had the opportunity to work together to maximise the wellbeing of people over 60 resulting in outcomes which would have probably not have been achieved otherwise. In this project GPs would sometimes agree to more frequent monitoring of physiological activities, alterations in dosages of medications, conduct tests and confirm diagnosis suggested by therapists with sometimes possible lifesaving outcomes.

The service was provided in partnership with other services for older people in the area including C.A.S.E., an organisation based in Maryhill Community Central Halls which offers day care facilities, home visits and social events for the elderly.

"After just one session I felt so much better. It took only four sessions in total to get rid of the pain. It’s like I’ve got a new arm now and believe it or not I haven’t been to a doctor since.”

Thomas Tedford 60
